Web Development
From drawing up comps to creating WordPress plugins, stylesheets to SEO, I have extensive experience across the full spectrum of web design and frontend development for every need, from small businesses just taking their first steps into web promotion to nonprofits and government agencies maintaining thousands of pages. Below I have showcased some samples of my prior work stretching back nine years.
The Godfrey – HTML5 Ad
Ads provide special challenges in terms of footprint and compatibility that prohibit some of the most common development shortcuts, so when The Godfrey’s marketing team required an animated, interactive ad series functional on the broadest possible range of platforms they turned to me to develop a set of HTML5 banners to their spec in the smallest possible download size.
American Association for the Advancement of Science – Online Judging System

For their 2016 Emerging Researchers National Conference, the AAAS planned to move much of their massive postsecondary-level science fair online, replacing their old paper-based system. Within a couple of weeks I developed mobile-friendly WordPress templates for their online abstracts; imported all their user-submitted content from raw spreadsheets; and developed systems for authors to edit their abstracts, judges to evaluate presentations, and officials to tabulate the results via their browsers.
Amedia – Theming

WordPress-based corporate site based off PDF comps, for a client whose priorities were mobile compatibility and exact adherence to a design guide within a simple package.
American Geophysical Union – WordPress Development

The AGU maintains a massive scope and variety of web content, but has a small development team to build sites or perform technical work. To efficiently centrally manage their sites and their various assets they have leveraged a powerful WordPress suite with plugins meant to greatly increase the flexibility of the CMS and the speed with which content templates can be developed, to be populated by various staff. I became the primary frontend developer who created the content types and layouts to suit the varied needs of the organization.
Rare Conservation – Project Management and Drupal Development

When Rare Conservation wanted to roll out a new Drupal-based site for the organization, built for their diverse international audience, they turned to me to oversee it. Social media integration, mobile-friendly design, and an ability to be updated and clearly read in multiple languages were key goals, and the content management architecture allows for the site to be maintained by minimally trained staff in remote locations.
International Student Exchange Programs – Content Management System

Content-sensitive ASP template designed to apply to many hundreds of entries, developed to pull content from a central SQL database updated by program staff via a custom in-house CMS. Primary goals were to logically sort entries, visually break up long blocks of text, organize greatly varied data into coherent categories, and provide some flexibility in support for different quantities and types of information, while remaining as visually united and clean-looking as possible with the base content.
International Student Exchange Programs – Stylesheets and Templates

Directory designed for quick navigation, reading, and comparison of list of ~50 programs. Branding and layouts were designed in concert with the print team to create a unified look to all ISEP media. I created web assets to adapt to the widest possible range of screen sizes and browser types to accomodate international and academic clients using nonstandard hardware; and allow quick drop-in addition or removal of programs. User workflow was mapped and profiles developed using Analytics results to streamline consumer navigation and increase traffic by 40% to key ‘call to action’ pages.
Middleburg Business and Professional Association – UX Design and HTML Development

Simple, maximally cross-platform compatible css/html info page for local association, featuring a large index of member businesses, maps and other utilities. While I created all initial assets except logos, the site framework was designed to be easily updated by clients without the use of third-party software.
Middleburg Country Inn – UI Design and Static HTML Development

Simple HTML web template designed for use on homepage, blogs, forms et al. In addition to the site framework all graphics, photographs, flash animations were created by me. The site was designed to evoke pastoral/rustic themes and ‘sketchy’ art style preferred by the client, inspired by an iconic sketch of the inn; I coordinated with the aesthetic of print assets to create a unified marketing campaign for all promotional materials.
